[comp.sys.atari.st] Transputers, J.Turner, oxygen, NeXt ??

lean@sbcs (Lean L. Loh) (10/06/87)

I finally managed to decode that humongous OXYGEN.uue into oxygen.prg
(about 3K) and oxygen.img (650K). Someone asked, so I'll say that the
digitized music was not all that impressive. It's alright, but 650K !!?? Nah.
Still credits to the authors.

Sorry to do this: I got your email, Jim Turner, and my reply bounced back.
Let me know how I can get to you.

Kit Kimes (AT&T) posted some 'news' about Atari negotiating with NeXt, Inc.
with regard to graphics and MM techniques. Is this the same NeXt that
Steve Jobs (co-founder of Apple) founded when he left Apple??

The latest issue of STart has an article by Tom Hudson (DEGAS.E, CAD3d)
on a transputer box for the ST. It's called Kuma-X (or Kuma-Max) and is
rated at 7.5 native MIPS. He ran some benchmarks comparing the bare ST
with one hooked up to the box. About 4 - 6 times faster (if I recall
correctly); of course depending on benchmarks. Apparently, this box
is already for sale.
