Is anyone working on porting the ZOO program to the ST? The sources to ZOO were posted to one of the sources newsgroups a month or so ago. I have a partly working (read: buggy) version running on the ST. Before I spend any more time on it, I'd like to know if anyone else is doing the same thing. BTW, the ZOO program is an library/archiver program something like ARC. ZOO seems to have been originally developed in the MSDOS world (as was ARC). The important differences are: - ZOO seems more portable. The sources are written in C, and I've ported it to both our local 68010/Unix v7 and our VAX/Ultrix machines. - ZOO supports storing full path names (subdirectories) and arbitrary length file names. Also the file names are stored in case in which they are entered. This is amazingly useful for archiving and re-creating entire directory trees. - ZOO uses only one (L-Z?) compression scheme. This means that while it gives slightly less compression (~10% for one moderately large group of files) it runs somewhat faster. -- Preston L.
