Nowadays you often hear things like 'this microcomputer has so and so many times the power of a VAX 780'. Maybe this is right for processor power but not so for overall system performance. You also have to consider for example I/O performance. A VAX 780 with a Unibus and fast 450Mb Winchesters therefore still outperforms current micro's many times. So i stick with this definition of MIPs: MIPS = Meaningless Information Provided By Salesmen. Greetings, R. Prins
