[comp.sys.atari.st] Using LaserWriter with ST

bryan@ihnet.ATT.COM (b. k. delaney) (10/15/87)

Here is how to use an Apple LaserWriter with your ST.

On the LaserWriter be sure to set the switch to 9600 baud.
The Atari Should be set to use the Serial port for the printer.
Also set the printer to FINAL and DAISY.
Set the serial port to 9600 Baud 8 bit data no parity no flow control,
and 1 stop bit.

You also need a NULL modem cable to connect the two.

I think that all you really need to do for a cable is:
           2-------------3
           3-------------2
           7-------------7

If that does not work Try:
           2--------------3
           3--------------2

           4______________8
           5_|
                        __4
           8____________|_5

           6--------------20
           20-------------6
           7--------------7

I have found that the PSST.PRG works really good for DEGAS and
NEOCHROME pictures. Also Publishing Partner is fantastic with
this printer.

p.s. if you set the printer to "SPECIAL" it acts like a Diablo
      printer.
