Recently I tried to get the latest version of AIM from
UH-INFO at UHUPVM1. Unfortunately, it fails the CRC check,
when unARCing, and the program bombs (no surprise, if some
bytes are wrong/missing). Where can I find a version
that's intact? (from BITNET)

Also, I got numbers 12 and 13 of Oren's Professional GEM
with this digest. Where are the other versions? Where can
I find the program examples mentioned there? It seems only
some fraction of what is sent to info-a16 passes over
to the BITNET servers!?
I have also never seen CAP, which was announced in this
newsgroup long ago.

A question: where is the best place to put public domain
stuff, so that most people can get it?

Several postings latelhave shown that the following message
may be helpful.

If you have an account at a node on BITNET, EARN, or NetNorth,
you can get lots of Public Domain (PD) software for your Atari ST.
There is a group in Huston that maintains a collection of software
that you can get. The commands

	TELL UH-INFO AT UHUPVM1 ATARINET HELP
	tell uh-info at uhupvm1 atarinet index

will get you started.

The header of their INDEX starts out looking like this:

 ***************************************************
 ** Welcome to ATARINET, sponsored by the **
 ** University Atari Computer Enthusiasts (UACE) **
 ** at the University of Houston **

and a few more are

 **      ATARINET is a subserver of UH-INFO       **
 ** Send comments and files for **
 **         ATARINET to UACE0 at UHUPVM1.         **
 ***************************************************
 + For a list of what's new, tell Atarinet 'NEWS' +
 *=================================================*
 * To get info-atari16 digests, use                *
 * LISTSERV at FINHUTC or LISTSERV at CANADA01 *
 *-------------------------------------------------*
 * from a VAX using JNET 2.0 or less, enter: *
 *   SEND/REMOTE UHUPVM1 UH-INFO "ATARINET HELP"   *
 * from a VAX using JNET 3.0 or more, enter: *
 *   SEND UH-INFO@UHUPVM1 "ATARINET HELP"          *

 I hope this helps...

net.atarians:

	Our mail here is screwy and I couldn't reply by mail here; so here
goes. (also, if you could, reply to me if you receive this news; I am not
sure my postings are leaving OSU... fill up my mailbox -- please!)

	I also have a Bitnet account on our IBM 4341 here. In the past
I have tried without success to get anything that works from the Atarinet
server in Houston. I am able to receive the file via Bitnet; but after
I uudecode the files (and I have tried the Un*x uudecode here on this
Pyramid and several uudecodes on my ST, including the brain-dead one
written in ST Basic) I get a CRC failure on ST ARC and the "segmentation
fault - core dumped" on the Un*x ARC. Help!!!

	I believe the problem is local, but am not sure. Mike (UACE0@
UHUPVM1) has sent me several replies, but nothing has worked... (sigh)
If you have experienced similar problems, whether you have got a solution
or not, please reply -- "I'll summarize and post to the net" (standard
disclaimers apply)

	Thanks in advance for any and all help. My basic reason for
this is to get the latest version of Uniterm (2.0 or above) -- I am
using 1.6f (which does not have a working version of Kermit) and have
spent ~10 unsuccessful hours with uuencoded binaries from Atarinet
trying to get it.

	Thanks again...
