[comp.sys.atari.st] Mark Williams msh and gemboot

abi@dutinfd.UUCP (Ton Biegstraaten) (10/29/87)

I have installed the MW C compilers and add on's.
Th first thing I noticed was that msh, the shell did not find the file
profile. It just gave a $ as prompt and did not set any variables or
an environment parameter.
Removing gemboot from the auto directory(v10 or v11, does not matter)
was sufficient to get msh working on its profile.
So now I have the 40 folder limit back.
Of course I want to get rid of that again
Any suggestions?

The compiler has given no problems up to now. May be it's the first one that
does not give problems with large programs ported from UNIX.
MEGAMAX was the best compared to Lattice and the "development kit", but
files from UNIX lex amd yacc programs must be edited first.

Another problem pops up now. I also have the MT Cshell.
I mostly use it single user, because my VT100 emulator does not like
multi user Cshell.
Sometimes however, especially during compilation of a number of programs
when i'am not at the terminal, it just hangs the machine.
A couple of returns or spaces makes it start again.
It is a nuisance, because you can't lt the machine compile stand alone.
