The following is my understanding of the product announcements made by Atari
Corporation at COMDEX in Las Vegas on 11/2/87, although since I wasn't there,
the facts might have been muddled. Corrections/comments are invited.
1) The Abaq, an ultra-high-performance workstation using transputer chips.
2) A CD-ROM player which interfaces to the ST or MEGA through a DMA. It will
also play audio CD's. Cost is under $600, available early '88.
3) A NETBIOS standard LAN which communicates at 1 megabit/sec to PC's and
250K bits/sec to APPLETALK.
4) Desktop publishing via the SLM804 laser printer using Deskset from G.O.
Graphics.
5) Several 3rd-party packages running under IDRIS, a multi-user, multi-tasking
OS similar to UNIX (R).
6) The PC2, a PC XT compatible, and the PC4, a PC AT compatible.
I'd like to invite Neil to fully elaborate on the above when he returns from
Comdex.
