I am trying to figure out what the actual data rate is to an IBM 327x terminal in the best of situations. That is, when an 327x is attached to a cluster controller attached to a channel. I have gotten conflicting reports: some say that the terminal itself can run at the channel speed, others say that the maximum data rate to the terminal from the cluster controller is 56Kb/s. What is the actual situation here? I would also like to know some performance data on what the data rate "really" turns out to be when the cluster controller is shared by an average number of users. Performance at a large corporate sites would do nicely, if anyone keeps track of this sort of thing, which I bet someone does.
