I am looking for an audio tape transport with the following features: - fair to good (or better, of course) audio quality - complete digital control (rewind, forward, play required. eject optional but would be nice). - digital ips counter It would seem like a digital transport would do fine but I don't have the poop on the differences between digital and analog heads (if any) and don't want to chop out all the digital read/write amplifiers and put in audio ones. Also, I would like it to be as cheap as possible. I am thinking about making my own phone answering machine, if that helps.
