Someone asked about d/a converters for the atari.  I have a hippo-sound,
which is now manufactured by someone else.  I was able to use it for some
signal processing experiments (although I uplead the sound files to a VAX)
I do not recommend it for any serious music applications, it is very noisy.
In fact, it always has a DC hum recorded, you can filter it by adding 17
to each sample.  The software is not bad, but could you some more features.
I don't really recommend it, but it might serve your purposes if they
are not so demanding.
