Will Lotus 123 work on an 520ST with PC-Ditto? Does PC-Ditto work on a 520? Will Lotus 123 work on a 1040ST? A friend of mine wants to buy an ST but he needs to use Lotus. He is looking at a 520 but he may get the 1040 if the 520 doesn't have enought memory to support either PC-Ditto or Lotus. Thanks for any replys, Tom

I saw a demo of PC-Ditto on a 520 color system, and it ran Lotus 1-2-3 w/out any problem. Some of the graphics stuff was a little slow, but it ran. An alternative, though, might be VIP Professional. This program is pretty much the same as Lotus. I haven't really used either program (no use), but my (mostly) computer-illiterate boss (a CPA) runs VIP and based on past experience with Lotus and hasn't cracked the book. It also reads and uses existing Lotus files interchangably without any modification. If your friend doesn't already own the Lotus program, he would be being a spendthrift by not going this route as VIP lists for about 1/2 (maybe less) the cost of Lotus... ----- Leo E. According to an article in the November issue of ST Applications, VIP is compatible with version 1a of Lotus, and lacks many of the features of version 2.01. They had an interesting feature comparison chart for 6 ST spreadsheets, which included Lotus and Excel for comparison. I can't say how good it is, since I've only seen a friend demonstrate VIP. Looked pretty sharp. -- Ron DeBlock KA2IKT
