[comp.sys.atari.st] MIDI software recommendations?

Hi
A friend of mine just bought a KORG DS-8
to complement his ATARI ST 1040 (mono and color).
Now he wants to know what MIDI software is 
recommended by the net gang.
He has a fair backround in music, since he 
used to be a classical trumpet player.
