Has anyone gotten this to work? I tried what I thought was the obvious case of putting it in an AUTO directory, but that dies with two bombs (illegal memory reference?) then dumps me back to the desktop. Any ideas?

I have had the same trouble as you have had. I also have had some replies for fixes. I have replied to them saying "Send me your fix". Noone has responded with something which will help me. Words are nice, but I need some sort of binary which will help me (us.) PLEASE POST THE SOLUTION FOR US. thank you. It is the pits to have to go thru a GEM boot to run GULAM, when the alpha version did it without any problems.
