[net.wanted] port code from 4.2BSD to UNIX V

I am trying to install software written on
Unix 4.2BSD onto Unix V. Is there any software
written anywhere to make this process bearable?
What should be the best approach to attack this from
past experiences? Already, I know I have problems 
with makefile et al.
I will appreciate any hints.
