I have tried some more software with the Magic Sac. Here is an updated list of software that seems to work with the Sac: Finder 6.0 System 4.2 MacWrite 4.6 MacDraft 1.2a (although I have heard of problems with MacDraft) MacDraw 1.9.5 Microsoft Excel 1.03 and 1.04 Microsoft Word 3.01 Versaterm 2.3 Binhex 5.0 MacPaint LightSpeed C 1.02 Software that does not work: Red Ryder 9.2 New Scrapbook DA (crashes at random times) MacWrite 4.5 (use MacWrite 4.6 instead) CricketDraw (requires 128K ROMs) Hypercard 1.01 (needs 128K ROMs) Multifinder Does anyone have the Transverter, and would they care to comment on it? The patches for ROM bugs are present in System 3.2 but not later versions. -- Larry Rosenstein Object Specialist Apple Computer AppleLink: Rosenstein1 UUCP: {sun, voder, nsc, mtxinu, dual}!apple!lsr CSNET: lsr@Apple.com

I am sure that Larry spoke as a member of the net and not as an Apple representative, but I think that this is the proper order of things. As I see it, the net is for an interchange of information, and since an Apple employee probably knows a great deal about the workings of a Mac, it is appropriate for such a person to comment. The Magic Sac can in no way be considered competition to a Mac, so such comments cause no harm to Apple and can help a number of normal users. Besides, if we can stick to comments like Larry's, we shouldn't have as much of the computer bashing that has so recently re-erupted. Again Larry, thank you. Adam Engst engst@tcgould.tn.cornell.edu

I forgot to mention that I was using version 4.52 of the Magic Sac software when I tested the programs that I listed. Karl Rowley Usenet: ...{hplabs,ucbvax,lll-crg}!ames!orville!rowley Arpanet: rowley@orville.nas.nasa.gov
