.
I have just spent about 4-8 hours over the past couple of days
setting up and using pc-ditto with msdos 3.21. I have had much trouble
transfering files between the st and the virtual pc, though I have been
sporadically successful. Does anyone know a great deal about the
incompatibilities between the file systems? I have been told that disks
formatted under msdos will work fine with tos, but I have found that this
is not always true. I could not access some of the files on my msdos
master disk under tos, though under msdos, I could easily access them.
Also, I have formatted disks under msdos, copied files to them, then when I
return to tos/gemdos, I find that no files show up in the disk's window.
Background: I have a 1040ST with an internal DS disk drive and an external
5 1/4" IB systems disk drive. I am using res.prg to change the step rate
for the external drive, and I have used dcformat, fmt (from IB systems),
pcd_dfmt(sp?) (from the pc-ditto company) and msdos format.
On a related subject, what are the problems with using a fixed
disk for both msdos and tos?
Thanks in advance,
