IFF stands for "Interchange File Format". It is a stanard for creating file standards. The intent is easy transfer between machines and programs. Very nice. There are IFF definitions for Musical Scores, sampled sound, digitized pictures, etc. You can purchase the entire "IFF manual" for $20 from: CATS / Lauren Brown 1200 Wilson Drive West Chester, PA 19380 |\ /| . Unless things have changed, the "IFF Manual" is on a disk and it is an Amiga disk. Or is there a printed version now? cheeser -- =============================================================================== Jonathan Bing, Master (cheeser) ...ihnp4!hoptoad!dasys1!cheeser "Pereant, iniquit, qui ante nos nostra dixerunt!" also "Non illegitimus carborundum!" ....crash!pro-charlotte!cheeser

You also get an Amiga format disk that, if unsuitable for your needs, may be reformatted for the system of your choice. The IFF stanard was first implemented on the Amiga, but was designed for interchange between programs and machines. |\ /| . Ack! The disk also contains the manual text in addition to source/object/executables so that the disk can be useful freely redistributed by itself by people like Fred Fish. -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Carolyn Scheppner -- CATS >>Commodore Amiga Technical Support<< UUCP ...{allegra,ihnp4,rutgers}!cbmvax!carolyn PHONE 215-431-9180 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
