My position in Atari is in the process of changing. I've been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing for the East and Midwest Regions. This covers all the territory from Maine to Virginia and west through the Dakotas. As you might imagine, this is a lot of ground to cover. At the moment we have 3 district sales managers, 4 distributors, and 2 rep firms in the territory. My job is to get all of them working as hard as possible to strengthen existing dealers and to open good new dealers for Atari computers. What this means to you is that I won't be quite as active here as I've been for the past few years -- for one thing, I'll be on the road quite a bit. And at the moment there's a mountain of paperwork accumulating from all over the company as I try to get a handle on my territory. People here are both congratulating me and offering their condolences. Guess I have mixed feelings also. It's a great opportunity for my career, and also a major challenge considering the events of 1987. Let's see how it goes. Regarding my prior responsibilities, the outcome remains to be seen. I'm giving up national advertising, which is being handled by Mel Stevens (not that there was anything happening at the moment, but we were generating plans quite a bit and talking to all kinds of salespeople). I'll still be doing some PR, since there's no good fallback person here for that, although I'm delegating as much of that to the PR agency (Neal Amidei and Co., 415-788- 1333) as possible. Back to PR -- I urge all software developers to stay in close contact with our agency. It's their job to serve almost as much as your agency as ours. They're instructed to help you in any way they can. They are fully equipped to give demos in their office, too. One last thing -- I'm making a trip to New York City in a couple of weeks. People in that area may want to listen to radio station WBAI (FM 98.5) from 7:30 to 8:30 PM on Sunday the 7th. I'll be the guest on the Personal Computer Show, a talk show, discussing the ST, Mega, and Abaq. If you are in my territory and have something to bring to my attention, please use email on GEnie, BIX, or CompuServe to contact me. I'd be glad to help in any way I can, but it will be hard for me to access Usenet from the road. Thanks to all of you for your help and support in the past few years. I'm hoping to continue to receive it in the future. -- --->Neil Harris, Director of Marketing Communications, Atari Corporation UUCP: ...{hoptoad, lll-lcc, pyramid, imagen, sun}!atari!neil GEnie: NHARRIS/ WELL: neil / BIX: neilharris / Delphi: NEILHARRIS CIS: 70007,1135 / Atari BBS 408-745-5308 / Usually the OFFICIAL Atari opinion

Congradulation Neil. It's sad to see you not doing the PR job anymore, no one has done better than you were and the ST community defintely miss you. By the way, you forgot to change your title in the signature page. :-) Are you going to be station in the East or remain in the West? Jinfu Chen Arpa: Jinfu@cup.portal.com GEnie: J.Chen
