[Instead of a longwinded proof-like (real-existing) article] -This is not X-posted so AMIGA/MAC et.al. will miss this GEM (har har) - If the computer is programmable and the user has full- access to it and the 'whatever' that protects the software is fully enclosed in the system (dongles, 'doohickeys', diskprotection, whatever) then the software can (and probably will) be cracked. (As will be the case with all stand-alone PCs) Addons may slow down the cracking process, but they won't stop it. I think the only, for software companies marketable protection are the little INFOCOM like add-ons that the user needs in order to run the program. BTW: John Franco I have lost ALL your addresses, please contact me. <<<<wallman-george@yale.uucp>>>>> <.......................IIII, ..< <......III, ..........IXI, .....< <.....IXIIXI, ......IXI,, ......< <....IXI,,IXI, ...IXI,, ........< <...IXI,, .IXI, IXXI,, .........< <..IXXI,, ..IXXXXXI,, ..........< <.IXXI,, ....IXXXI,, ...........< <IXXXI,, .....III,, ............< <<<<<<<<<wallman@yalecs>>>>>>>>> wallman@yale WALLMANN@CTSTATEU.BITNET
