Hi netfolks, Recently I found the german demo of the ascii text editor named "TEMPUS", in the download there was a remark that the demo would bomb, so it would be a limitted demonstration. But I was amazed by the speed of this editor, so I decided to get my own english version of TEMPUS. The version I got was TEMPUS1.10. On the disk there was a *working* demo of TEMPUS, which of course is not able to do savings and printings of edited texts. The uuencoded file is about 64K, which is to large to post it to this list, the uuencoded/arced demo has been posted to the prog-16 filelist on listserv@canada01 (earn/bitnet). I also heard from SoftPaquet (Zoetermeer, Holland) that in september 1988 a textprocessor/editor based on TEMPUS will be released, so get it when it is releassed, get it then, but first buy the ascii text editor!!!!! Disclaimer: I'm just a customer that's happy with TEMPUS!!!! Greetings, Victor Ronnen (EARN/BITNET adress: FKERONNE@HLERUL52)

Concerning the enthousiasm about the speed of Tempus: There is a faster and much more versatile editor on the market nowadays: It is called STedi and is sold as part of a development package called Craft which contains the GPshell: a UNIX-like shell, STedi and a number of utilities like make etc. The package is made for people who are involved in making larger programs for whom the speed and versatility is very important. Compared to it Tempus is merely a toy. Jos Vermaseren t68@nikhefh.hep.nl (was t68@nikhefh.uucp) No disclamors whatsoever.
