While viewing Clockwork Orange for the Nth time on cable, I caught a mention of Heaven 17. It occurs early when Malcolm is picking up the two girls licking on ice cream sticks in the record store. He asks them what type of music they like and then ends with "You are invited!". Is this Heaven 17 the same as the current pop-disco band from England (or is the band named after the mention) ? The group "Heaven 17" is named after the fictional
group that is mentioned in Clockwork Orange. How long
have they been around ? I'm not sure, but one of the
members is formally of "The Human League" and there is
only one album by Heaven 17, which may give some
indication to the groups' age.

In the same vein, the band The Shoes is named after a quote from John Lennon, who, when asked why they were called the Beatles, responded that they could have as easily been called the Shoes.
