[comp.sys.atari.st] Sound, Speech-recognition and Magic Sac

VDGRIEND@HEIIPO5.BITNET (02/18/88)

Dear brothers and sisters on the net,

I have some remarks and some questions and would like to receive reactions.

1. Some time ago (digest 87/420?) I asked for help to do A-D and D-A
(the latter also by the monitor speaker). I got no reaction.
But on the HCC-dagen (the biggest comp.hobbyist-fair here in Holland)
I bought the ST Soundtrack. It does 8-bit A-D and D-A, also with the
monitor as an output to about 50 KSamples/second (On the monitor 31
I think) and has a lot of nice features. It sells for about Dfl. 165.
Hardware+Software. You can connect it to your audio-equipment.
Hardware is a cartridge for the ROM-port. If you would like more INFO,
   please let me know.

2. Is somebody working on speech-recognition by the ST?
I bought the Micromint Lis'ner 1000 and would like to use it on the
ROM-port. I'm convinced it is possible, not all the signals needed are
available on that port but they are in the ST. Has somebody done it
already? If so, please tell me. If you did interface another Apple ][
bus card to the ST, I'm interested to hear too!

3. To David Small c.s. : It must be possible to do Mac to ST conversion
on the Mac only, is that right? Because the drive is under software
control it could be possible to read and write ST-compatible disks,
provided the neccesary software ofcourse. Or am I terribly wrong?

4. I have a Protek acoustic modem 1200/75 baud, but did not succeed in
working with bulletin-boards here in Holland. They do not seem to
recognize the PROTEK. Does somebody know why and how to fix it?
(It does work with VIDITEL compatible services).

Thank you for reading. Please react if you can offer help !
