Microsoft Write for the Atari ST comes with a set of GDOS Screen fonts, and a set of ATARI DOT MATRIX GDOS fonts. These dot matrix fonts, are of a DIFFERENT size and proportion than the ones you would use on an EPSON COMPATIBLE printer. Atari, in some show of inner light, have decided that no other printer exists except their own wimpy dot matrix printer. Oh yes, if you buy the laser printer, you get a set of fonts for that. But what if you own an EPSON compatible printer like 90% of all ST owners? Well, you have three choices: 1. Don't buy Microsoft Write. (Wait for WordUp) 2. Buy FONTZ! and try to custom modify your fonts to the size needed for and epson printer, learn assembly and write a FX80.SYS 3. Buy EASY-DRAW from Migraph, they come with a set of EPSON GDOS FONTS that work with Microsoft write. Since I own Easy-Draw I was able to go that way, but obviously Atari is not really pushing Microsoft Write, since they only expect 5% of all the ST population to use it. (Those who own Atari Dot Matrix Printers). Oh yes, Microsoft Write WILL print in ASCII to just about any printer, but who wants it to do that? Rick Flashman 1040 N.
