There from time to time are some requests for infos about samplers for the atari st. There is one that plugs into the cartridge port, it is formally made by Hippo, but now has been taken over by someone else. It is around $100. Do not even bother with this. It is noisy, you have about 4 bits of DC noise. And the software could be written better. If you are serious, you are going to have to get something like a Mirage or ADAP or an Akai, and then get some appropriate library software or write you own. The thing about the ADAP is that you have to dedicate an ST to it, but it gives you CD quality, with 16 bits. Casio also makes a 16 bit machine, and I have heard them in clubs and they sound good. Beyond that, if you have $70K, you can start looking at a Synclavier and with 100 get a Fairlight.
