Yuk. :-( Never thought I'd be asking something like this, but my boss is bigger than me. Has anyone out there had experience with any of the various IBM emulators, either hardware or software sorts? What I'd like is info about any of availability, approximate cost, speed (as compared, say, with a 'standard' IBM base-model PC), ease and convenience of use (disk swapping? uses up the cartridge/parallel/serial port? etc), and 'goodness' of emulation (i.e. how much stuff will or won't run). (In particular, also, we use a lot of MS Word and Lotus 1-2-3, and kermit. Any of those not work?) If you're in a position to do comparisons of several sorts, even better. Any information would be appreciated, though, as long as it's based on your own experience. (Re-hashes of magazine reviews are not V interesting -- I've probably read them all, anyway, and trust them about as far as I could spit a PC.) If there's a reasonable response, I'll summarise to the net. Working mail addresses should be: whatever you can derive from the header of this; or Smee at UK.AC.BRISTOL via BITNET.UKACRL ; or Smee at AUCC.AC.UK via the ARPA gateway at UCL (formerly UCL-CS)
