[comp.sys.atari.st] The nature of competition

mgardi@watdcsu.waterloo.edu (M.Gardi - ICR) (03/14/88)

A quote recently flashed by on the broadcast news channel today:

"If you are not your own competition, someone else surely will."

To whom do we owe this gem ? (sorry) None other than our own Jack Tramiel.

Well Atari, I think it's time to take your own advice... When the ST
came out, I was truely impressed. Never before had such a powerful machine
been available to the 'masses'. The ST had a lot of promise, and still
could have promise with the proper approach by Atari. I think the new
hardware such as the 68030 box and the ABAQ are great... BUT support
what you already have. I have always been an atari supporter, but I
refuse to invest any more time or effort in a machine and company for
which there is no support.

The ST is still an impressive machine. Come on Atari, whip up some
enthusiasm for the ST, bring out the blitter, a new set of ROMS,
give GDOS to the masses, advertise and help support small developers.
I know all of these have associated costs, but

If you are not your own competition, someone else surely will.
