Recently, I've come across a need for a database program of some
sort, but I'm not sure which, if any, of the currently available db programs
for the ST will do the trick.
What I want is to have one file, where each record is a string of
chars (ex. a magazine title), and to have these sorted. Then, for each of
these titles, I want all the volumes associated with it as a separate file,
but accessible from the title.
So, if my first file, TITLE.DAT looks something like
ANALOG
Antic
BYTE
STart <-- and I have my cursor here
STlog
TV Guide
I want to be able to hit RETURN or whatever, and access the next file,
START.DAT, which would then be:
Volume: I Date: Summer 1987
Contents: Brief summary of this issue
and be able to progress through a sorted list of these issues.
Is there a database program that will do this? I've been told that what
I need is a relational database, but the same person who told me this could
not say if DB Man would do the trick.
Thanks
