According to the March 22, 1988 *Macintosh Today*, in an article with the title "Atari to test Apple market with Mac tools", Atari is going to mount a midyear attack on the US desktop publishing market held by Apple. "New products that will figure prominently in Atari's lineup include a LAN that is tentatively called PromiseLAN; desktop publishing software from Soft Logik Corp. of St. Louis and G.O. Graphics Inc. of Burlington, Mass.;Atari's SH205 20 MB hard disk drive and Omnicard." Omnicard is supposed to be a HyperCard-like program. The PromiseLAN should support the AppleTalk protocol and other standard protocols. "The network supports Atari's older 1040ST computer, the newer Mega 4, the Mac, the IBM PC and Atari's SLM804 Laser Printer, ..." and should be out in 2 months. Also mentioned was the Magic Sac and Translator One by Data Pacific. A quote was given from Neil Harris claiming Atari could penetrate the Apple market. (All proper company names are most likely trademarked etc. by said companies. The direct quotes come directly from the article and the whole article is (C) Copyright 1988 by the publisher most likely; couldn't find a notice. I have no relation to anybody/thing/company cited. Nothing quoted with direct permission. Etc.) So, Atari hasn't changed yet. Lot's of hype and optimism and whatever you want to call it. So, Moses isn't dead... :-) We'll see. Any comments. The people at *Macintosh Today* obviously thought it important enough to put it on pages 1 and 3. Chad chad@byuvax.bitnet
