We've just acquired a fairly large collection of Ungermann-Bass hardware to support a campus wide terminal distribution network and are interested in learning about any procedures, scripts, programs, or tricks other installations have developed for the supervision, monitoring, and management of such equipment. Among the kinds of things we're interested in are: mechanisms for quickly/automatically disabling a whole set of ports when a computer system becomes crashes or becomes inaccessible for some other reason; mechanisms for automatically probing the network to find out who's using what resources; mechanisms to aid in summarizing overall network load rather than just local collision/error counts; anything else no matter how cute or kludgey. We're also interested in whether anyone is using any of the direct synchronous services of Net/One to support bisync, SDLC, or DDCMP connections.
