I'm not convinced that Apple wishes to win this lawsuit. It seems that we're pretty much agreed that there is little "new and original" work embodied in the Mac; rather it was new and original at Xerox PARC. What Apple most likely wishes to do is to slow the development and distribution of "look-alike" products (read: "OS/2 Presentation Manager") by seeking injunctions against Microsoft, et. al. on those products. Meanwhile, Apple has little or no competition in that arena while the suit drags on, allowing it to gain market share, and allowing its product to mature, over the course of a year or two long law-suit. By the time the suit is over, and Apple loses, Apple will have a huge lead over their competitors in the area of "Mac-like" interfaces. Can you say: "Unfair trade practice"? Farrell T.
