I have caught wind of a rumor that Antic mag. will be/have released a video tape containing different scenes created with CAD 2.02. Has anyone else heard about this project, I am sending a letter to Antic to find out first hand, but any info in the mean time would be nice. later Barry

It was made by a friend of mine at the University of Kansas, Mark Pennel. He was commissioned by Antic to put a demo tape together of the entire group of Cyber software packages. The tape includes some of the older CAD 3D demos, but mainly consists of new demos created for the video tape. It starts out with about 3-4 minutes of demos shown back-to-back, then a voice-over (Mark) goes thru the various features of CAD 3D 2.0, CyberPaint, and Cyber VCR-control. The tape includes the California Raisin animation as well as some thinly-veiled copies of demos that I saw last year at Siggraph. I may be biased, but considering the tape was created using: 2 Sony 8mm VCRs a 3/4" U-matic (at KU), a Mega 4, and 3 college students, the professional appearance (and sound) of the tape is incredible! It made me proud to own an Atari ST. They showed it at the West Coast Computer Faire and it was well-received (or at least so I have heard). I've seen the first(!), and the second one is coming out any day now. The first tape is called "Atari at Hannover", and is a long tape showing CyberPaint, CAD-3D, and other such animations through their paces. They (Antic/Atari?) show uses of the Cyber series and the Atari ST for professional uses, such as special effects design, preliminary CAD work, digitizing, television video production (yes, I saw GENLOCK on the tape!), and other such features. I presume this was played by Atari during the Hannover Faire... The second tape is called "The best of the Cyber Studio" (or something like that), and is an Antic-produced self-product-promoting tape. They've been collecting quality Cyber-stuff demos from people around the country (world?), and putting it all on tape. I hear that there will be an ad for this video in an upcoming issue of _The Catalogue_ (that's Antic's bound-in-the-magazine mail-order booklet, remember). Just so you'll know, --R.J. B-) P.S. I'd love to be a CyberPunk, but I don't got the time. B-) P.P.S. One of the demos on the Antic videotape will be from a close friend of mine. Watch for "The California Raisins"... ______________________________________________________________________________ Bitnet: rjung@castor.usc.edu "Who needs an Amiga?" = == = = == = Power WithOUT the Price = == = ===== == ===== Just because it's 8-bits doesn't make it obsolete. ==== == ====

For those who'd like to see Cyber demonstrations, ANTIC recently sent out a newsletter to Cyber-stuff owners with information on a demo/tutorial/ whatever tape that will be showing up in the May issue of the ANTIC catalog. Evidently they've got about 80 megabytes of animation demos on the tape (don't know exactly how many MINUTES that works out to, but it should be interesting...) You say you own Cyber-stuff (CAD 3D 2.0/1.0, Cyberpaint, Cybercontrol, etc...) but haven't received any newsletter? Did you send in your warranty card? I have no idea how many "issues" of this newsletter will make it out, but it was nice to see some of the things ANTIC is planning. (And to hear about using CAD 3D 2.0 as a "previewer" for IRIS workstation animation...) -- Dave Meile
