To my total horror, I have just discovered that FLASH turns tabs into 8 spaces when downloading files in ASCII download mode. marvellous. no wonder "arc" always fails. can anybody out there tell me how to disable this "feature"? and if there are any other "features" that this package has, I would be interested in knowing about them. -- Mike Nemeth "more logic than Mr Spock!" ...utzoo!hcr!miken

(sheepish grin) oops. it appears that i should've checked to see if something up the line wasn't doing what i excepted it to be doing before flaming FLASH. checking my terminal magic with "stty" revealed that the option "tab3" automagically changes tabs to spaces. oops. oh well, another day, another foot in the mouth ... -- Mike Nemeth "more logic than Mr Spock!" ...utzoo!hcr!miken
