[comp.sys.atari.st] ST Clocks

Another reply to Sandra Loosemore's request about ST cartridge clocks...While I haven't had the time/money to invest in one (my car recently underwent a $2000 engine rebuild), I do know of someone who has a really neat ST clock -- I forget who makes it and what it's really called, but I like to call it the "Invisible Clock" for reasons given below...

The clock isn't a cartridge. It is a piggyback socket that you plug into your ST. To install it, you just open up your ST, remove one of the socketed chips, plug this clock into it, replace the chip on top of the clock (no soldering; the clock looks like a "fat" socket), and plug in any 9-volt battery. (I strongly suggest insulating the battery with a few strips of electrical tape -- just in case.) That's it! If your computer ever needs servicing, you can just unplug the clock and nobody will ever kno

w you opened up your ST.
Setting the clock is a snap -- it's set via the Control Panel! No extra desk accessories, no extra program, no RAM eaten up!

I want one.

"Where," said Ford Prefect quietly, "does it say teleport?"
"Well, just over here in fact," said Arthur, pointing at a dark control box in the rear of the cabin. "Just under the word 'emergency',above the word 'system' and beside the sign saying 'out of order'."
