[comp.sys.atari.st] Uniterm is missing ...

mitsolid@acf5.NYU.EDU (Thanasis Mitsolides) (05/14/88)

There is something that uniterm lacks, flash has and I am missing.

Assume that you want to login into different systems
with different boud rate and different RS232 settings in general.

Flash allows you to atach to each telephone number the baud rate
to be set BEFORE the call. Very convenient.
Also, after the call flash allows you to set the RS232 to whatever
	you like through a macro.

In uniterm one has to do all the above changes by hand
(there is only the option of creating many setup files
but that is hard to mantain)

While this is the only feature I am missing from uniterm,
I would like to thanks Simon for the best terminal emulator
	I have ever used.

UniTerm 2.0d has this.......
And: 30 Function-Keys
         Statusline: None/Indicator/Hostwritable
Most of the keys of the 'Arrow Keypad' are redefinable (Example:
you can turn <Help> into scrolllock or other braindamage).
Mouse buttons send user-definable characters in GIN-mode
         Loadable fonts.

The bad news is: I can't ship it right now as the mailer program I use to
do it, has been changed and as result broke.................

Now, if this isn't a good support!

My last (I think) wishes are:
	- To be able to set the RS232 Parameters through a macro.
	- To have the terminal emulator accept a sequence for changing
screen modes (80/128 cols 24/49 lines) but wouldn't
clear the screen (at least) when the mode requested
		is the current.

I wouldn't like to sound greedy though ...

Uniterm is more than satisfactory as it is already.

I regard Uniterm as one of the best(useful) programs ever made for ST,
I like it very much and use it every day. Many thanks Simon!!!
