STdNet - an Atari ST developers' Network
              ------------------------------------------

What is STdNet?

STdNet is an alliance for those who develop software for the Atari ST
computer. Members maintain contact via mail, both paper and electronic.
The principal means of electronic communication is USENET. A program called
UUMAIL enables members to send and receive mail, including mailing lists,
via USENET.

What are the goals of STdNet?

   Primary goals:

	1) Act as a clearinghouse for information relating to the Atari ST -
	   both hardware and software.

	2) Disseminate information regarding "standard" ways of performing
some software operations -- including standard library routines,
ways for getting around bugs in the Atari ST operating system, and
	   common programming problems.

   Secondary goals:

	1) Provide electronic mail communications between Atari ST developers.

	2) Provide a software library containing source code examples in
	   a variety of languages.

	3) Provide a cohesive voice to express our desires (and help) to
	   Atari.

   Other goals:

	1) Maintain and disseminate a "catalog" listing of software
	   developed by members.

	2) Maintain and disseminate a "catalog/review" of PD software.

	3) Provide a "help line" to answer questions from Atari ST developers.

I've posted this a while ago, but have not seen it up on the network, so
I am reposting it. Sorry if you've seen this twice. STdNet came out of
some discussions we've been having at the MAST Programmers meeting (MAST
is the Minnesota Atari ST users group). We hope to encourage anyone who
is interested in programming on the ST (including non-Atari registered
people who write software).
