I have had my SH205 hard disc for almost a year, and have been using it heavily. Here's what happened to me lately. My SH205 hard disc occasionally gave these "Data on disc C/D/E may be damaged" messages (in the course of running a program!), which were easily remedied by switching the drive off and on (once or twice or thrice). Then one day whilst staring at an editor screen I noticed my disc coming to life. After exiting the editor the file I had been editing had grown from 10k to 2M....... (note: I don't have a MegaST, and my editor (Tempus) calls it quits well before 800k) Curiouser and curiouser: I deleted this file, and found that my 4M partition on the hard disc had 3M used and 3M available. Most files were found to contain just repetitions of their first 20 or so lines. Luckily I am paranoid about this sort of thing and had a 3-day old backup of everything important. (Long live Flashback!!!!!!) Do people out there have similar experiences? Are other discs than the Atari more trustworthy? (Am I doing something wrong? I do switch off the drive when I don't need it for a while, such as when using Uniterm) Reply to the net, or privately, Victor Eijkhout u641000 at hnykun11.bitnet
