I have never called midiws with more than about 7 or 8 back-to-back notes without some delay in between calls. I have successfully called Midiws with a length parameter of about 4096 TOS is also fast enough to receive long messages at full midi speed. In other words you can receive mesages larger than the internal midi buffer. I use Bconstat and Bconin in a tight loop. I find that this receive loop takes up about 80% of the CPU (I have time for some minimal processing inside the loop). Kurt Hutchison The Santa Cruz Operation
