Is there anybody, who has ported Jove-4.9 to the Atari ST? If so,
I would appreciate a copy very much. Or does even a GNUEmacs port
exist (:-) ??
Or is this the wrong question at all. Is there a superior editor,
one should use on the ST?
Thanks

For those who are wondering, here's the latest index from netlib@lakesys:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
lakesys netlib index - archives.atari - Atari ST files
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: All files are ARCed and then uuencoded with Dumas' implementaion of
uuencode, 'uue'. It is compatable with 'uudecode', and it makes decoding
multiple part uue files very simple. The ST binaries and a DOC file are
in uuxbin.uaa.

archives.atari would like to express our thanks to
Steven Goodman, Owner and System Administrator of lakesys!

To request files send a message to netlib@lakesys.UUCP consisting of:
send filename/part.uaa from archives.atari
send filename/part.uab from archives.atari
send filename/part.uac from archives.atari

For whatever it's worth I have an old 520 expanded to one meg, and a mega 4
at home and another mega 4 at work. All three have been more reliable than the
Mac's and the XT in the office, tho' the one at the office has some mystical
problems with NeoDesk, getting the program icons on the desktop screwed around
while I've never had any problems with the one that is mine. Both about the
same age, mine two months and the office one 4 months earlier.
Just adding some data for those with a statistical bent.

I don't like CSD. They have a difficult setup for keys, you need to hit
several to do anything. It also replots the entire screen (fast, but it
still flashes irritatingly) each time you do anything. On my PC, and even
under PC Ditto, I have used Power C's C-Trace. For some silly reason, they
chose things like insert to set breakpoints and watchpoints, spacebar to
single step, and return to exectute in trace mode instead of some obscure
set of function keys. And it highlights successive lines until it actually
goes off screen and can handle graphics.
I also can't see the assembly instructions, so I had to also use db
separately to trace a problem - I can't see the low level in CSD. It also
crashed (db too!) when I ran a problem program. I don't think they did a
bad technical job with CSD - just a bad ergonomic job. I hope they fix it,
because otherwise it is a good debugger. The ST's function keys just aren't
the best to overload with functions, and I need both db and csd's functions
in one debugger.\

Subject: Midi File Format Standard Found
To: info-atari16@score.stanford.edu
I received several responses to my request for the midi file
format standard. I have successfully called Opcode (see below) and been
promised a draft in the mail. I didn't talk to Dave Oppenheim, the secretary
was able to send me a copy.
I didn't call the MIDI association but I am posting the address FYI.
When I get the draft I might post a copy to the usenet if
anybody is interested and it is not too much typing. I still have
a copy of the MIDI 1.0 message standard that was posted a
little while back if anybody wants that.
One last thing, now that I have (hopefully) gotten my hands on the
file spec, does anybody out there have any recommendations for
score editors that are compatible with the standard?
I already have a sequencer and I am hoping to save a little money
by buying just a score editor.
Master tracks Pro has been mentioned as a sequencer that
accepts standard midi file format files.

From the recommendations I received:
There is attempt to produce a MIDI (file format) standard.
