Re: Paul Merriman's request for a PD Make utility, there was one on Compuserve. I had a copy of it, but deleted it when I got MWC and Lazer C because they both have built in Make facilities. In response to earlier questions from someone, both MWC 3.0 and Lazer C have removed the 65k size restriction on module sizes and array dimensions (both were holdovers from the IBM PC segmented memory mentality, one via the Mac).

That was one I posted (18 months ago?) and recently George Woodside posted an updated version for the the Atari (to the binaries? newsgroup). It handles macros quite a bit better than the MWC make (I don't have Lazer, so I can't compare it), but it is not so well integerated into the shell -- reasonably. It's main advantage is that it comes distributed in source, so you can "fix" it when you want to, and it seems to be improving at a faster rate (several netters are making improvements it seems).
