Bill Rosenberg <.......> seems to be an IBM PC user interested in ATARI ST:
->actually i boot my (ibm clone) PC from hard disk but would NEVER consider
->doing the same for my ST. toooo risky from what i read here. i'll wait

Do we start again on telling how superior one machine is? Please stop this
nonsense. I work on both machines (and others) almost daily and they both
have their (dis)advantages. Just work with it and be (un)happy!

first of all, my name is Rosenkranz, not Rosenberg.

second, i am a professional developer on the ST (i have 3 1040 ST, 2 HD, 4 or
5 monitors, etc, etc...). i much prefer the ST of PC as far as capabilities
are concerned. 68000 linear address space alone makes it far superior in my
mind than dealing with stupid 16 bit addressing (segments). i was not even
bashing the ST nor was i proclaiming "the PC is better". please read before
you throw stones.

i have had several hardware related problems, though none with the cpu proper
(except the first one i got would not even boot...i got a new one from
xanth within a week). how many hard drives have YOU had to buy? atari support
has been less than seemless and even that i have finally justified, at least
to myself: they do the best with the resources they have.

i can't afford to play around with fancy schemes. i need to get the job done
the safest, most reliable way i can. if you are a student, you probably
have no idea at all what the "real" world is like. i didn't when i was.
if you are a professional, you should know better.

the ST is a fine system.
the ST is a fine system.
the ST is a fine system.
the ST is a fine system.
the ST is a fine system.

i wrote this 500 times. satisfied?

like dave beckmeyer (much more aware of this and affected by it than i), i
reserve the right to express my opinions and relate my experiences.

no followups, please. this issue does not warrant it.
