Does anyone know who wrote, or performed, the original 'Batman' theme? I've heard both the Who and the Kinks do it, and I once heard that the Kinks recorded the version used on the show. Could this be another strange Ray Davies creation? Lemme know how far off base I am; I'll summarize. Kirk Glerum

#R:uw-june:-88600:inmet:6600077:000:758 inmet!andrew Jan 24 10:02:00 1984 The "Batman" theme was written by noted film composer Neal Hefti. (Why anyone would need to hire a noted film composer to re-write the riff from "Wipe Out" escapes me.) Several people recorded it - Hefti himself, the Markettes (both of whom had hit singles with it), Jan and Dean, Bob Kuban and the In-Men (any other BK fans out there?)... The Kinks version appeared several months later, as part of a medley on "The Live Kinks"; I don't believe it was the version used on the show. Andrew W. Don't forget the version done by the JAM off their first album, "In the City"....actually one of the best tracks off that album. Marty
