Subject: Turbo-'C' News

I had a phone call this morning (03-Aug-88) with th Turbo-C project Leader at
Borland in Munich, Germany. He gave me the following infos:

Documentation: printed and ready to ship, in German.
  Beta testing: Deadline 05-Aug-88
  Bug fixing : Deadline 10-Aug-88
  General availability: September 1988....

These dates might be shiftet by max. 2 Weeks if serious bugs are found
(they don't expect any)

Code produced by Turbo 'C' performs at a similar speed as code executed on an
9 Mhz AT (no wait states).

Turbo 'C' uses a fast and unusual Parameter passing technique:
As much parms as possible are passed in the 68000 Registers. Only
variable parm function calls (like printf) are forced to pass parms
  on the stack.

The cdecl modifier forces each function declared with cdecl to pass
  its parms on the stack.

Turbo 'C' comes with a complete AES/VDI/GEMDOS Library. Most of
the non Graphics functions of Turbo 'C' (80xx) are implemented.

Because of the different structure of the Graphics Interface of
the ST, it was impossible to port the MS-DOS Routines in a relativly
short time (we don't want them eh ??).

My Beta-exemplar ships anywhere on the Ocean, I hope to receive
it in the next days... ( a little late but.....)
A Turbo 'C' -ST team is recently founded at Borland of Scotts Valley,CA.
Therefore, everybody is invited to cry for that thing to be released in the
states.

BTW, cause I don't trust statements of official corporate people, I called the
Editor of the German magazine c't, who is responsible for the ST and tried to
proove the above things.
They have the Compiler already for (preview) and its as fast as Borland says.

Peter (as soon I get the baby, I'll post a msg)
