[comp.sys.atari.st] for sale: magic sac/translator one system

toml@xrxns.UUCP (Tom Love) (08/15/88)

For Sale:
Data Pacific Magic Sac Plus (macintosh emulator & clock cartridge and software)
Apple Macintosh 64Kbit Rom chips (already installed).
Data Pacific Translater One (permits magic sac to read/write
    mac-formatted floppies).
Numerous (approx 20) disks of magic-format public domain mac software.

Also included are all the manuals, newsletters, and the mac-to-atari
cable for downloading. The software is current rev, though offhand I
don't recall what that number is. The cartridge and roms are about 1
yr old; the Translator is about 7 months old. All hardware and
software is in perfectly excellent working order.

For those not familiar with it, the Magic Sac system does an excellent
job of emulating a Mac 512 (or larger, depending on how much memory
you have) on an Atari 1040 ST or Mega ST system. Without the
Translator One device the Magic Sac is limited to using its own unique
floppy format, making interchange with a real Mac inconvenient - but
with the Translator, the Atari/Sac combination can read, write, and
format Mac-format floppies. The Sac software also supports a hard
disk, if you have one. While the Atari color monitor is supported,
the monochrome monitor is recommended (it actually provides a larger
screen area than that on a Mac). An added bonus is the battery-backed
clock included in the Sac cartridge, useful in either TOS or Magic
mode of ST usage.

The reason I am selling my Magic Sac system is because I was made an
offer I couldn't refuse on a Mac Plus system, and have little use for
two Macs.

My total investment in this package is approximately $475. I will
sell the whole shooting match, including shipping, for $300. I'm
pretty firm on this, but I might consider an offer if moves slowly -
try me!

I might also consider selling my Atari monochrome monitor, as I also
have a color monitor. Make me an offer.

Reaching me via uucp is sometimes challenging - I suggest a
telephone call or, failing that, a note in the postal mail. See
relevant addresses etc below.
