I am looking for a personal finance budget program for a 1040ST. So far, I've only looked at a package called "Dollars & Sense". First impression is that it is pretty good. A review that I read about it (early 1987) says that it has occasional "Modula-2 errors" that you can not recover from and must reboot. Does any one know if this has been fixed recently? Are there any other bugs I should beware of before I buy? Is there another personal home budget software package as good or better than "Dollars & Sense" on the market? Thanks in advance. -- ....................................... "To open, cut along dotted line." ....:....................................... : : Robert Miller @ att!richp1!robert .....

It's an excellent program that let's you keep track of budgets, expenses, incomes and the like. It also comes with a very good tax package that integrates with budget program. The thing that I like most about Phasar is its user interface. It is not entirely GEM based, but it is extremely well thought out. Entering a large number of entries is made as painless as possible. Navigation through the features is logical and easy to figure out. The next best thing about Phasar is the stability of the program. It is a fairly mature program with most of the bugs having been shaken out of it. I certainly haven't found any bugs and I've been using it for 1.5 years. In short, I highly recommend Phasar as a home accounting package. It can be obtained from Antic publishing (look in any issue of Start for the Catalog ad). It may also be available through your local dealer or mail order houses that carry Antic software. And the usual disclaimer: I have no affiliation with Phasar or Antic software. I'm just a satisfied user. Barry Locklear

[Robert Miller asks about home financial packages...] Robert, run, do not walk, to your local dealer and get Pha$ar (from Antic, lists at $89.95). (It is also available for our Amiga friends...) The ONLY negative comment I have heard about it (and I have 4 pretty good friends who all use it) is that the author(s) haven't written a business accounting package. One of my friends wrote the author with a question about the software (and a comment), and he called her up long distance to talk about it with her... Now THAT is support!
