A friend recently had the following problem with his disk drive: it would not read semi-standard (10 sector twisted by DCformat) atari disks and would produce a bunch of heiroglyphics for file names etc. When standard IBM disks are used, they work fine. This problem had not cropped up before and is not associated with head allignment (which causes a similar problem on some drives). The drive seems to differenciate between Atari and IBM disks. Is his machine slowly turning into an IBM (dread!) clone? Can this horrible fate be altered or will he start to get INTERNAL STACK FAILURE notices and 64K boundary problems? Any explanation no matter how fanciful is welcome. ...John
