[comp.sys.atari.st] HELP in msh

es2a+@andrew.cmu.edu (Eric Stuyvesant) (09/08/88)

Hi, netlanders...

I am having severe difficulties adding help synopses to helpfiles (used
by help.ttp), and in getting help to correctly change the help index file.
The manual to MWC states that one is supposed to put a '#' in front
of the new synopsis, but that doesn't seem to work. The synopses
that were already included in helpfiles were preceded with a '@',
but putting '@'s in front of the new ones also didn't seem to help.

In addition, the command 'help -R fubar' as explained in the manual,
doesn't seem to work. It apparently does the help -R, then does a
help fubar (it usually can't find fubar). Additionally, I have tried
'help -R', and this seems to partially reindex the helpfile, but it doesn't
work fully either.

As far as I know, there are no irregularities in the text that I
cut-and-pasted into the helpfile Additionally, I interspersed all of the
newly added synopses into helpfile alphabetically.

I have MWC version 3.0.5, and msh Version 3.0 (I think).

By the way, the reason I am posting this question rather than writing a
letter to/calling Mark Williams is that I haven't received notice of
my registration back yet.

Thanks in advance for any help...
