I am posting this for a friend of mine. She is using Degas Elite and working with GDOS fonts and has the GEMFONT Editor. This isn't the FONTZ! editor but a PD program which is JUST a GDOS editor. : 88Sep28 12:39 am from Marlene Abriel @ BAUD (Dartmouth) George or anyone who has worked with GDOS fonts: HELP!! I'm having one : heck of a time creating a printer font that will print what you see on the screen. I'm using the GEMFONT Editor and as usual the docs are very sketchy. They say to create a font with a point size twice the size needed but to change the point size to half (physically) before saving it out. I did that. Next, you're supposed to rescale the font by .5 (I assume both horizontally and vertically. They don't say...in fact .5 is for mono and they say "something less for colour"! ???) and to make sure you change the point size to read the same as what you just saved for the printer font. I did that! When I load in my fonts, I have two fonts listed instead of one! (They say nothing about this.) One of the fonts is the screen font and the other is the printer font. Both can be used to print on the screen with the two different sizes being exactly what you'd expect...one twice the size of the other; however they both printout the same size...which you'd expect, as well. The problem is that the font which prints is not really the size shown on the screen. For example if the font measures 1" high by 1/2" wide on the screen (there's a ruler to help you judge your placement), it prints as 1/2" by 1/2". Nothing at all seems to make any difference. I've rescaled until I'm blue in the face and ready to spit nickels. I'm really confused as to what's happening.
