HI, y'all. I just downloaded the ST version of TEX from the ftp server at clio (35.195.16.4). After getting lplain.tex, hyphen.tex, lfonts.tex, and latex.tex (plus about 47 .tfm files) from my local un*x machine, I ran the INITEX.TTP program to produce LPLAIN.FMT. Everything goes fine until it hits the end of all the input files at which time it prints '*' prompt on my screen and waits for me to type something. I've tried '\bye', '\end', '\dump', all to no avail. It either doesn't understand my command or complains of stack overflow. Question: what do I type in response to the final prompt? Another ?: has anyone successfully built an LPLAIN.FMT this way on a 1Meg 1040ST ? Help me, please. Thanks. Stephan V. Schell schell@iris.ucdavis.edu ucbvax!ucdavis!iris!schell

i had no problems building TeX on a 1 meg 520. the correct command is \dump, i think. you probably aren't allowed to type anything else before that or it will become confused. greg ---------- Greg Lindahl internet: gl8f@virginia.edu U Va Dept. of Astronomy bitnet: gl8f@virginia.bitnet
