A shell for TeX has appeared in comp.bin.atari.st. It is stated that: >On a 1 meg machine, there is not enough memory >to run a shell and TeX together, .... ^^^^^^^^ I would like to say that it is not true for all shell's (and all TeX ?): ST_TeX from Tools Gmbh, runs really fine under SHELL.ACC. You can even define in a PROFILE file the search paths and use command file. So, I can type "latex foo" , where latex is defined, in LATEX.BAT, by: c:\st_tex\tex.app &c:/st_tex/lplain $1 Nice, is not it? Unfortunately, SHELL.ACC does not support GEM program, so you have to exit before running DVI.PRG. (This is NOT a flame for texshell) ----- Bertrand DECOUTY @ INRIA-IRISA (Centre de Rennes) ----- +------------------------------+----------------------------------------------+ | IRISA - INRIA | EMAIL : decouty@irisa.fr | | Campus de Beaulieu | | | F-35042 Rennes Cedex | UUCP : {uunet, mcvax, inria}!irisa!decouty | | FRANCE | decouty@irisa.UUCP | +--------------------------+---+--------------------+-------------------------+ | PHONE : +33 99 36 20 00 | TELEX : 950473 UNIRISA | FAX : +33 99 38 38 32 | +--------------------------+------------------------+-------------------------+

oops! i forgot to mention that i was talking about FREE TeX, not some commercial version. this TeX is available from clio.math.lsa.umich.edu (don't you love how i advertise other people's file servers without asking first :-) via anonymous ftp, or soon from lakesys (i just mailed the uuencode fragments earlier). -- greg ---------- Greg Lindahl internet: gl8f@virginia.edu University of Virginia Department of Astronomy bitnet: gl8f@virginia.bitnet "Doesn't Quayle know that the FBI handles doesmetic assassinations?"
