[comp.sys.atari.st] IBM3101 Terminal Emulation

iadt3tb@pyr.gatech.EDU (T. Terrell Banks) (10/10/88)

I talked my wife into letting me buy a Mega2 ST. One of the arguments
that I used was that she could use it to dial into the IBM4381 mainframe at
her office. I have now learned that her systems people think that if you want
to use their computer you will be ready, willing, and able to emulate an
IBM3101 terminal. Well, I'm ready and willing. Not so good on the able part,
however. Is there a communications program for the Atari that will do this.
I will be willing to buy commercial if I have to but would rather find it in
a shareware or PD program.
       Thanks,
                                         Terry Banks

Before you go hunting high and low for a 3101 emulator, note that an IBM 3101
is basically the same as a DEC VT52. I suspect that Uniterm will be able to
fill your needs.

(Looking through /etc/termcap, it seems there's one or two discrepancies -
the VT52 uses ESC K to clear to end of screen, the 3101 uses ESC I. Home
and clear screen sequences are the same, as are cursor motion sequences...)
